Cooke Donates Toys to NHS Shetland Children’s Ward at Christmas

Cooke Aquaculture Scotland was delighted to support NHS Shetland by donating toys for children in hospital this Christmas.

For the second year in a row, Cooke staff joined NHS team members at Harry’s Toy Shop in Lerwick to pick out a selection of toys, colouring books, games, story books and more.

Jan Howard, Hospital Children’s Nurse, accompanied Cooke employees, Emma Coote, Communications Coordinator, and Michelle Johnson, Technical Manager on 14 December 2023.

She said: “Once again, a huge thank you to Cooke Aquaculture for the very generous donation of toys to the children’s department.

“The donation will have a great impact on how children cope with being admitted to the hospital and help distract them from painful and upsetting procedures. We have no budget for toys, so we really appreciate this contribution.”

Harry’s Toy Shop Manager, Stewart Jamieson, kindly offered a 10 per cent discount on the purchase and helped the team tally up the toys and pack them into environmentally friendly-Cooke canvas bags.

The children will take the toys home with them at the end of their hospital visit. Lois Eunson, pictured with her dad, was one of the first recipients of the new batch of toys.
