East of Skelwick Skerry Site in Westray, Orkney Receives Full Planning Permission

Cooke Aquaculture Scotland Limited is pleased that the East of Skelwick Skerry Site in Westray, Orkney, has now been granted full planning permission, following today’s first Planning committee meeting of the new Council.
The site is relatively offshore at 2.5km from the nearest landfall and will be equipped with technology that has been specifically adapted for high energy sites.
Cooke Aquaculture Scotland plans to develop this site over the next 12 months, creating 8 new jobs and bringing the company’s number of UK employees to more than 320, with about 90 employees in Orkney only.
This new farm will secure and enhance the Westray operations along with improving efficiency at the dedicated processing facility at Hatston, Kirkwall. Cooke Aquaculture Scotland Limited is proud that all fish that is farmed in Orkney is also processed in the County, bringing valuable employment opportunities to our local communities.
