Simmer Dim Fishing Competition!

16th/17th June 2018, Unst, Shetland

The Simmer Dim Competition was started 15 years ago to raise money for Cancer Support Charities. It involves an all-night fishing competition as near to the Summer Solstice as possible, taking advantage of Shetland’s 24 hour daylight at that time.

The competition is a fun event which involves fishermen from all over the world, in the past they have traveled from as far afield as Canada, USA, Spain and Iceland.

Since it’s inauguration it has grown annually, raising a total of £13,581 last year. This money was split between three local Cancer Support Charities – Cancer Shetland, CLAN Shetland and MacMillan Nurses.

Davie McMillan and Stevie Palmer who organise the competition both work for Cooke Aquaculture in Unst.

If you would like to donate to these worthy charities then please contact Davie McMillan on 01957 711659 or email davie.mcmillan@cookeaqua.com.
